Silencing Gaza: Targeted Killings of Al Jazeera Journalists
12th August 2025
If we wanted to commit genocide, it would have taken exactly one afternoon - Netanyahu
I need everyone to wake up. Please never feel like you aren’t intelligent enough to understand what is happening in Gaza. Never be scared to start now, educate yourself and wake up. This is not a small bicker that’s happening far away in the Middle East that doesn’t affect you. Palestinians are human. Innocent people. They are children, mothers and fathers. If you have an ounce of empathy in your heart, please stand up for what’s right, don’t let the media put wool over your eyes.
On Sunday 10th of August, a targeted Israeli air strike hit a media tent outside of Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza. 5 journalists assassinated. Cause of reason? They were apparently terrorists. Of course, Israel have moved on from killing 61,000 Palestinians in ‘defense’ for the justice of October 7th, and have now taken the route of cold-blooded murder and cover the unjustified genocide by using Hamas as a reason to murder.
I want my readers to understand, what is happening in Gaza is not a hard concept to grasp, it is unfathomable how Israel is killing civilians in cold blood. Assassinating journalists, putting them in a category of Hamas. There is no shame in their game. Candace Owens (my queen) put it quite literally, if you’re a serial killer blame Hamas and you’ll get away with it.
One of the journalists killed on Sunday was Anas Al Sharif, a 28 year old man who was a key reporter of exposing what was happening on the ground in Gaza. With 1.7 million followers on Instagram, Sharif was a threat to Israel. This is not a false claim or judgment that I am making, it has been noted that Israel Defense Forces Authorities claimed Al Sharif was a Hamas operative. The Al Jazeera journalist was one of the many individuals who were a valued key source in the reports of the war, being in the midst of the civilians since October 7th. “The head of a terrorist cell in the Hamas Terrorist Organization and was responsible for advancing rocket attacks against Israeli Civilians and IDF troops”, was the lie that left the IDF’s lips to make them sleep better at night. Cold blooded murder covered up yet again with another excuse.

There’s a certain underlying consensus that fighting for Palestine is seen as rebellious, perhaps even daring, as if going against the grain automatically falls into the category of being antisemitic. Maybe you fear getting yourself into trouble, or feel overwhelmed about which side to choose. This isn’t a small bicker happening in the Middle East; this is genocide, famine, the erasure of a nation. Would the western world have the same sympathy if the innocent children dying were named Olivia and Noah? I want to ask you directly: Why is supporting Palestinians treated as something to be kept quiet?
