Donald Trump’s Inauguration: His First Words in Office
Inauguration is the processing of swearing a person into office, and Trump for his second term of presidency was sworn into office on Monday 20th January 2025
Inauguration Speech
Standing behind a podium in front of an assembly filled with people, Trump began his first public speech of inauguration. He began his speech stating that he would simply “Put America first”, a promise that suggests his time in office would overturn the actions of Biden. Trump continues with overused buzz words such as:
“The Golden Age of America begins now”
“America’s decline is over”
The choice of language in his speech highlights that Trump believes Biden’s time in office ruined America, putting forward a statement that today marks a day of steering America into direction of safety.
To follow his speech, Trump briefly touched on his survival of an attempted assassination (which can be read about on my page here)
He described his survival, “I was saved by God to make America great again”.
Other claims:
Trump claimed a National Energy Emergency, and said to “Drill, baby drill” in Alaska
Wants to reinstate the “Remain in Mexico Policy”
Declares only two genders will be recognised in the USA
Wants American astronauts to go to Mars and plant the American Flag
controversies:
During the speech of Trump’s celebration of inauguration, Elon Musk took to the stage.
During the celebration, Musk took the stage and was seen making a gesture resembling the Nazi salute
With outrage from his pose, the public have speculated that he purposely chose to carry out this gesture to engage far-right wing groups
He responded to the outrage on his social media platform ‘X”, quoting:
“The ‘Everyone is Hitler’ attack is so tired”
^ The lack of empathy in his response foreshadows the type of people connected to power in America.
